About This Site

Independent notes on tissue engineering, regenerative medicine and bioelectricity.

What you will find here

This site collects plain-language notes on a group of related subjects: growing tissue in the laboratory, the materials and devices used to do it, the electrical behaviour of cells, and the wider questions raised by building with living matter. Each section is written as an introduction for curious readers, students and people who work next to the field – designers, investors, journalists – rather than for specialists.

The articles try to describe how the technology works, what has been shown and what remains uncertain. Where historical milestones are mentioned, such as the Hodgkin–Huxley model or the discovery of induced pluripotent stem cells, they are well-documented events that can be checked in the literature listed on the reading page.

How the articles are written

Each article starts from the basic biology and engineering involved, then looks at how researchers have approached the problem and what has actually been demonstrated – in cells, in animal studies or in patients. Open questions are listed explicitly at the end, because in a young field the unsolved problems are often the most interesting part. Articles are revised when a section turns out to be unclear or out of date.

What this site is not

This is an independent educational project. It is not a company, clinic or laboratory, it does not offer treatments or products, and it is not affiliated with any of the organisations or authors mentioned in the text. Nothing here is medical advice: anyone considering a treatment should speak with a qualified clinician.
